Dear Colleagues,

Especially after these past two very busy weeks, I want to take a moment at the start of this message to thank each of you for the many ways you continue to show up for our students, your colleagues, and this university community. This season is often hectic and demanding, and I am constantly grateful for the care, dedication, and generosity you bring to your work every day.

First, thank you to everyone who attended and participated in the recent public presentations for our presidential candidates. These moments are very important for the future of ÃÛÑ¿TV, and I appreciate the time, thoughtfulness, and engagement that many of you brought to the process. Showing up, genuinely welcoming the candidates, listening carefully, and sharing your perspectives is an important part of our shared commitment to this institution and its future.

I also want to take a moment to recognize the work happening at UW Casper and to thank Dr. Amanda DeDiego, as she has announced her resignation as she turns towards another chapter later this summer. Amanda has provided thoughtful and dedicated leadership during her time as Interim Dean, and we are grateful for her service and wish her all the best in this next adventure. At the same time, I want to assure our community that the search for UW Casper’s next dean is actively underway, and we look forward to welcoming a new UW Casper leader who will continue building that important part of our statewide presence.

Many of you also saw the recent announcement last week of yet another tragic loss of a UW student. News like this lands heavily across our campus. It is a painful reminder that even as we move through the routines and responsibilities of the semester, many in our community may be carrying grief, uncertainty, or hurt that is not always visible. I encourage you to continue checking in with yourselves and with one another, and to extend grace wherever you can. Support remains available, and I especially want to share that the Wellspring Counseling Clinic is offering a grief support group for members of the campus community through the end of the semester. Support is also available through Wellness in the WEST for all of our employees. I am deeply grateful to those across UW who continue to create spaces of care, support, and connection when they are needed most.

There is also much ahead that reminds us of the strength and purpose of this community. I encourage you to attend UW's first-ever Experiential Education Showcase and Celebration on April 10, which will highlight the incredible work happening across UW to create meaningful, applied, and high-impact learning opportunities for our students. This event is a wonderful reflection of the creativity, commitment, and partnership that make experiential education such an important part of the UW experience. You can learn more about it at this campus communication link here, and we will announce the awardees from the showcase the following week, so stay tuned!

I also want to thank our two Vice Provosts, Shelley Dodd and Michelle Hilaire, and our Dean of Students, Tyler Crisman, for welcoming prospective students and their families to campus last Friday during New Student Day. I am grateful for the time and energy they invested in helping students see what is possible here at UW. Looks like they were having a great time!

As a brief reminder, the Great Colleges to Work For survey will close tomorrow, April 3. If you have not yet had the opportunity to participate, I strongly encourage you to take a few minutes to do so. Your feedback is incredibly important in helping us better understand our campus climate and strengthen our workplace culture. Thank you to those who have already shared their perspectives.

At a time when there is so much to carry, I hope we remember the importance of community in all that we do. Universities are built not only through teaching, research, and service, but through the ways we support one another in both joyful and difficult moments. Thank you for all you are doing to make this a place of learning, belonging, and care.

Warmly,

Anne
