Darrin Duber-Smith

Darrin C. Duber Smith is a seasoned marketing educator and strategy consultant with more than 35 years of experience spanning higher education, industry leadership, and applied consulting. He served as a Full Time Senior Lecturer in the College of Business at Metropolitan State University of Denver from 2003 to 2025 and has held adjunct faculty appointments at multiple institutions, including ÃÛÑ¿TV, Virginia Commonwealth University, and the University of Northern Colorado. His teaching portfolio includes undergraduate and MBA level courses in marketing strategy, consumer behavior, integrated marketing communications, global marketing, and marketing research.

 

In addition to his academic career, Mr. Duber Smith has an extensive background as a professional marketer and consultant. He is the former president of Green Marketing, Inc., where he spent 15 years advising organizations on branding, sustainability, and strategic growth, and he has consulted for dozens of organizations across consumer goods, health, energy, and nonprofit sectors. He is a co founder of the Lifestyles of Health and Sustainability (LOHAS) market framework and played a central role in helping define industry standards for "natural" products through the Natural Products Association. He is also the creator of the Brand Evolution Process, commonly referred to as the "Three B's of Branding," which he integrates into both academic and professional practice.

 

Mr. Duber Smith is a prolific author and highly visible public commentator, with more than 100 scholarly and trade publications and over 1,000 media contributions across national and international outlets. His work has appeared in leading academic journals, industry magazines, and business media, and he has been a frequent keynote speaker and presenter at academic conferences and executive level industry events worldwide. His contributions to teaching, service, and professional engagement have been recognized with numerous honors, including multiple awards from Metropolitan State University of Denver and recognition from The Wall Street Journal as one of the most influential professors in the United States. He continues to teach online and consult part time, bringing real world experience into the classroom.
