Broad-Banded Grasshopper
Trimerotropis latifasciata Scudder
Trimerotropis latifasciata is found throughout the rangelands of Wyoming. In this survey it was most common
in the sagebrush grasslands of the Big Horn Basin. Eggs overwinter in the soil. Adults
were collected in late July and August. This species is a grass feeder and is reported
to eat western wheatgrass. It is not abundant enough to damage rangeland except in
conjunction with other species.
