Xanthippus montanus (Thomas)
Xanthippus montanus is a less common relative of X. corallipes. It is often associated with sandy soils or sagebrush grasslands, and should be found
in suitable habitat throughout Wyoming. This grasshopper is reported to have a two-year
life cycle, with eggs and nymphs overwintering. Adults were collected from late April
through August. It is probably a grass feeder but due to scarcity it is not considered
a pest grasshopper in Wyoming.
