The University of Wyoming Esports Club is competing in the “Esports Border War,” a rendition of the 120-year-old rivalry between UW and Colorado State University (CSU), Saturday-Sunday, Aug. 29-30.

The virtual event is a collaboration between the UW Esports Club and the CSU Esports Association. The six-game gaming showdown will take place on the schools’ respective campuses. Esports is a form of competition that is facilitated by electronic systems, particularly video games.

Six teams from both universities will compete in various online games that require a wide variety of skill sets to determine a winner. The games are League of Legends; Hearthstone; Valorant; Overwatch; Rocket League; and Counter-Strike: Global Offensive.

The event will be livestreamed on the popular gaming site Twitch.tv and will be broadcast on the Mountain West Conference’s site.

The UW Esports Club also is hosting a remote viewing party of the event on its Discord chat server for UW students interested in learning more about the club, and meeting team members and players. A link to the server can be found on the club’s website at www.uwyo.edu/rec/club-sports/esports.html.

Updates on the event can be found on Twitter.
