Collecting lies at the heart of the UW Art Museum’s activities, advancing its mission to collect, preserve, exhibit, and interpret visual art from around the world to challenge, inspire, and educate. Acquisitions are made possible through gifts from generous donors or purchases with endowment funds designated for collections. All potential acquisitions are carefully considered based on existing areas of strength and relevance, and within the context of supporting ÃÛÑ¿TV’s academic and cultural missions. As a result the Art Museum is able to add significant artworks that range from important art historical works to new contemporary pieces. New Acquisitions: The UW Art Museum Collection highlights some important recent acquisitions to the permanent collection in the last year.
