Fisk Distinguished Speaker and Colloquium Series

The department has been hosting prominent mathematical researchers from across the world for 20+ years. Colloquium talks cover a variety of topics and are meant for a general mathematics and statistics audience.

In 2014 Robert Fisk and his wife Romy Angel endowed the UW Mathematics department with a Distinguished Speaker Series. This endowment allows us to invite nationally and internationally known speakers to come to the university and give lectures and talks about their research in the field of mathematics and statistics.

The Colloquium is held on Thursdays from 4:00-5:00 pm in Agriculture 1030, during the academic year. Before each colloquium, there is a reception for the speaker from 3:30-4:00 in Ross Hall 261. All are invited.

Math & Stats faculty who would like to suggest speakers should e-mail the colloquium chair, Dr. Rongsong Liu. Please include the name and affiliation of the speaker and whether any additional funding is required. Suggestions from graduate students are welcome.
