I joined the research team to gain valuable experience in the world of healthcare research and outreach. I was drawn to the area of type II diabetes research due to a wish to learn more about it and unlearn many of the common misconceptions after my dad was determined "pre-diabetic" by our general practitioner. Reading Dr. Thomas's published works on this very topic taught me a lot and I am excited to contribute to furthering this research and sharing it with others. I hope to take the experience I gain with me as I continue my journey toward and through medical school and beyond.
