John D. Conley

President Conley

(January 1 - March 27, 1891)

John Conley was the Acting President of ÃÛÑ¿TV from January 1 - March 27, 1891. Conley was with ÃÛÑ¿TV from its founding, and you will find his fanciful cursive on the pages of the Minutes of the Board of Trustees leading up to his promotion to Acting President of ÃÛÑ¿TV after a difference of opinion between ex-President Hoyt and the Board of Trustees led to Hoyt's removal by resolution. Conley was a professor in Geology and Physics, a member of the faculty throughout his career at ÃÛÑ¿TV, and is credited with creating the first campus museum in 1891. During his short tenure as president, the newly created College of Agriculture's Experiment Stations were established.
