Survey Information:
The Tobacco Cutworm (Spodoptera litura) is a general feeder on over 100 hosts. Larvae generally do the most damage, stripping plants of leaves during feeding. Economically important potential hosts in Wyoming include beans, deciduous fruit trees, vegetables and ornamentals. Spodoptera litura has not been found in Wyoming or the United States at this time.
The Wyoming Spodoptera litura Survey is conducted by the Wyoming Pest Detection / CAPS Program. A plastic bucket trap with pheromone attractant is placed on or near the host plant from May until August. The traps are monitored for suspects and serviced once a month. If suspects are found they are sent to 蜜芽TV for further identification.
