The Office of the General Counsel provides legal advice and counsel with respect to business transactions, including contracting issues and property matters.
Contracts
The Office of General Counsel reviews, drafts, negotiates, and supports a wide variety of contracts involving the University. Our attorneys work closely with Risk Management, other administrative offices, and each individual department or unit in navigating contracts, interpreting laws and regulations, and advising on complex transactions.

Property and Construction
General Counsel attorneys provide comprehensive support and advise on issues relating to the construction, ownership, management, and use of property and facilities. Our Office and UW Real Estate Operations handle all real property acquisitions, sales, leases, licenses/permits, easements, and other real estate matters for the University. In addition, we provide legal guidance and assistance related to documents, disputes, and legal requirements pertaining to all construction projects.
